All Because of a Tent

One night while camping in the desert along the "Shvil," the national trail that runs through the entire land of Israel from north to south, a friend and I had been praying for an opportunity to share the truth of Yeshua (Jesus) with a fellow hiker.

A friendly man named *Iddo came over to us while we were making soup for dinner. He was from the north but had time off work, so he was hiking the Shvil and had pitched his tent nearby. He had many questions about where we were from and what we were doing in Israel. We shared about our love for Israel and the Jewish people, and our desire to stand with them in both good times and bad.

Iddo was very grateful to see people from other countries supporting Israel; he had felt burdened by the lack of support from the world. He continued talking about what it had been like for him and his family during the war.

We invited him to join us for dinner, which he gratefully accepted, even bringing his own food to share. Afterward, he said goodbye and went on to visit other campers nearby. I had enjoyed our time with him but was sad that I hadn't shared anything about Yeshua, especially since I had asked God for an opportunity. I felt like I had missed an open door to share the source of true peace, hope, and protection, which is so important at a time like this.

l asked my friend to pray with me for another chance to talk with Iddo. While we were praying, the wind suddenly blew and carried his tent down the side of the mountain. I immediately ran and caught the tent before it and its contents flew over the edge. This presented another opportunity to talk with him and bless him by helping him reassemble his tent.

The next morning, we enjoyed sunrise together and I gave Iddo a Bible with the New Testament in Hebrew, including a note about how Yeshua is our real sukkah (tent) that will never blow away. He was grateful, and I was rejoicing - God had heard our prayers and faithfully provided an open door for Iddo to hear about Yeshua's love and receive a Bible, all because of a blown-away tent! God can turn things we would never expect into gospel opportunities! Are we ready to follow His lead?
