We Were Robbed...!

"We were robbed, we've got nothing, and we need help! A friend told me I should contact you." My phone flashed this WhatsApp message from an unknown Israeli number.

Instantly my heart and mind began to race. What happened? Who are these people? Are they physically okay? "Lord, what would you have me do?" I prayed.

"I'm so sorry," | replied. "Tell me more about your situation and I'll do what I can to help." | offered to host them at the guesthouse.

They responded, "We'll be there after we finish the police report. Thank you so much!"

The ministry season hadn't yet started - the guesthouse needed a jump start ... and quick! Immediately I made a shopping list and grabbed the cleaning bucket.

Later that evening, six tired and worn-out Israeli backpackers were welcomed into the guesthouse. These young men and women who had finished their army service fighting in Gaza were now penniless, ragged, and definitely tired. The Lord had allowed this unexpected detour in their big South America trip to kick-start our ministry season early!

That night, the Lord put it on my heart to ask others to contribute to restoring their stolen gear. I put the word out and the response was instant and overwhelming! The following day was Shabbat, so we prepared a big meal. Unexpectedly, another ten Israelis heard about us and showed up for the Shabbat dinner!

After a warm, tasty meal, I shared a Bible teaching about God's free gift of salvation through Yeshua (Jesus). Then I told the crowded room I had a special gift to share. I called the six Israelis up to the front with me. I explained, "I told my Christian friends who love and pray for Israel what happened to you yesterday. I asked them to help by donating to recover your stolen gear so you could continue your journey." Then I gave them each gifts that had come in from people all over the world. "This is simply an expression of the free gift and love of God through Jesus towards you."

Tears flowed, hugs were given. It was incredible to see how God brought so many lost sheep of the house of Israel to our table to see, hear, and experience the love of Jesus that special night. Whether in season or out of season, when God brings someone in need to our door, we can be a blessing by embracing them and being ready to serve, trusting His timing and provision. What man meant for evil, God meant for good.

Amen and amen.
