Feeding the Hungry

Poverty is found in all societies and Israel is no exception. Our hearts break for those who, for whatever reason, are not able to obtain nutritious meals. Through the work of Rescue in Israel, we are committed to helping provide individuals with meals that will lift the spirit and the body. We have no criteria as to who will be served. If people are hungry, let them come and be fed.

Men’s Program

The men are engaged in programs on a daily basis (for up to nine months). This includes having the opportunity to go fishing and enjoy the fruit of their labor. All these activities help break the cycle of addiction and homelessness and help transform them into godly men who can learn to provide and care for their families and contribute to Israeli society in a positive way.

Women’s Shelter

Moving Forward as the Lord Leads

A group out of Finland made a wonderful donation to help advance the establishment of a Women’s Shelter. They donated close to $200,000 for the purchase of property/facility.

Gene, our director in Israel, with the help of a real-estate agent located a piece of property on which we could build a facility for women. Working with an attorney, the proposal was presented to our board in Israel. On January 21, 2019 the board voted unanimously to purchase the property. We then moved ahead with the purchase of the property which, unfortunately does not move quickly in Israel.

In December 2020 we received approval to move ahead with the architectural plans and begin the process of obtaining needed permits. This process will take up to 10-12 months to complete before we can start building.

The Need

Prayer – at the forefront of this effort is a battle for the souls of precious women who are faced with a life of homelessness, drugs, and human trafficking. This battle is first and foremost spiritual and we need much prayer.

Finances – we have established a budget for this building project at $430,000. We have $250,000 and need to raise the balance of $180,000.

In addition to the monies budgeted for the Women’s Shelter, it does not include equipment and staffing. Later in 2021 we will begin the process of raising funds for equipment and staff. Staff will need to be trained and brought on board during the building phase. This way staff will be ready to bring women into the program immediately.

We have builders from Germany and the U.S. who have indicated they would like to help us build the women’s facility. We will be able to use volunteers once the main structure is built. Israel has strict building codes and the structure of the building must be built by local builders and contractors.

Please consider how you can help in prayer and financial support in order to accomplish this project.
